1. Gateway of India

One of the oldest places in the city, it is a beautiful monument that stands proudly on the shore of the Arabian Sea. It is a highly popular tourist spot as thousands of tourists visit here every day. It was built as a commemoration of the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai. Indian, Arabic and Western Architectures were adopted while building this.

Things to do: eat the street food, click pictures, boating, see the view, visit the Taj hotel.

Pro tip: Have channa or bhelpuri here as you take a walk along this great place.

2. Marine drive

Marine Drive is a km long, arc shaped road along the South Mumbai coast, starting from the southern end of Nariman Point and ending at the famous Chowpatty beach. It is one of the best places to see the sunset in the city. here, you can actually see the sky meeting the sea. This place will really calm you and your tiredness will disappear.

Things to do: watch the sunset, observe Queen’s necklace, just sit silently watching the waves roaring.

Pro tip: visit here during the night to observe queen’s necklace. In the evening, the whole road gets to lighten up with yellow streetlights and looks like a necklace. This looks spectacular in the evening.

3. Bandra Worli sea link

Officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, this eight-lane cable-stayed bridge plays a big role in the progress of Mumbai. Visit this wonder to admire its architecture. It is also a beautiful place by the sea. While you just look at its might, the sea breeze will touch your face and calm you. It will make you ready for your further journey and all your frustration will disappear. The best time to enjoy here is during the day time when one can drive smoothly on the bridge with a clear view of the sea below.

Things to do: watch the waves, relaxing and taking a ride here. Also, it is a great object for photographers.

Pro tip: Follow the speed limit prescribed for individual vehicles and other rules set by the authority.

4. Walkeshwar Temple

What is a better place to find peace than the god’s home itself? Walkeshwar Temple is dedicated to the Hindu god, Shiva and is situated near Malabar Hills in South Mumbai. It is also known as Banganga Temple because of the fact that it lies near the Banganga Tank. You can visit here anytime during the day. You will really like this place.

Things to do: listen to its significance, roam around and feel at peace.

Pro tip: it is a bit crowded during the full moon night and at Amavasya. So, just be careful of your belongings.

5. Siddhivinayak Temple

Next; I have this marvellous and really famous temple, Siddhivinayak temple. It is one of the richest temples in Mumbai. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The wooden doors to the shrine are carved with images of the Lord. The inner roof which is plated with gold has the central sculpture of Ganesha. It is a highly crowded place as well.

Things to do: take pictures, walk around the temple, buy some souvenirs for home etc.

Pro tip: Liquor is prohibited in the premises of the temple.

6. Chowpatty Beach

While you go Marine Drive, you may also pay a small visit to this beach. Sunset is a good time to visit this beach and relax. It will not take you more than 45min. to take the tour of the entire area.

Things to do: Horse and cable rides, watching snake charmers, fortune tellers, have a corn here which is popularly known as Bhutta.  

Pro tip: The road running parallel to the beach the Chowpatty Seaface has a bronze status of Tukaram Omble, the man who helped catch the only terrorist of 26/11 Mumbai attacks alive. Pay a visit here too.

7. Haji Ali Dargah

This place is situated with the stunning background of the Arabian sea. Built of glass, the tomb is a beautiful piece of architecture. The structure is a brilliant design of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. People from all over India visit here to take blessings. You will feel really calmed to listen to the Sufi music played here.

Things to do: roam around the dargah, enjoy mouth-watering Juices and food at the nearby Haji Ali Juice centre, take pictures, feel the sea breeze.

Pro tip: Avoid going here during high tide because the road to dargah gets submerged, making it entirely inaccessible.

8. Mukteshwar temple

It is a very nice destination to visit near Juhu. It is also really nice renovated recently. It is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva and also, Sri Rama Parivar. With so much to lure your senses and offer you recreation at its best, get drenched in the spirit of adventure that you get to explore at Mukteshwar temple, Mumbai.

Things to do: Roam around the temple, take pics etc.

Pro tip: you can visit any time all day.
