Get Inspired by Riya Sen on a Pre-Wedding Escapade!

Is your wedding around the corner? Are you feeling a little nervous or over the top tired? do you want a breath of fresh air from the wedding planning? Then take some much-needed inspiration from our very own Bengali queen of hearts, Riya Sen! She got married to Shivam Tewari in 2017 and before the hustle of the wedding, they were out and about and busy in exploring different places. So without any further ado, get inspired by Riya Sen on a pre-wedding escapade!

1. Take it easy in Malta

In spite of being packed with various interesting things to see, Malta is laid-back and easy-going. The boat trips, quaint towns, friendly and ever-smiling people, periwinkle sea, and soul-feeding views will definitely help you unwind.

While you’re here, you can:

  • Check out the capital city of Valletta which hosts regular concerts, plays, exhibitions, and street events. Another point of interest is the Museum of Archaeology in Valletta, which is home to many rich artefacts from prehistoric times. Also, don’t forget to visit the War Museum at Fort St. Elmo! A Sunday military parade in period costume re-enactment takes place here. And, you can also visit the Grand Master’s Palace and the St. John’s Co-cathedral.
  • In Rabat, you must visit the Museum of Roman Antiquities.
  • In Mdina, check out the Cathedral and its museum. Also, take a romantic stroll on the lamp-lit roads of Mdina at night.

Best time to visit: For a quiet and sunny holiday, visit during May. Otherwise, the peak times of June to July are also excellent for a visit to Malta.

2. Romance in Bratislava, Slovakia

Doesn’t matter if you like history, shopping, or just plain sightseeing- Bratislava has it all. Beautiful castles, romantic places to eat with the most breath-taking views, amazing food, beautiful night walks, colourful buildings, outdoor markets along with shopping malls- the list is endless. And all of that in this one beautiful place called Bratislava!

While you’re here, you can: 

  • Check out the Bratislava Castle. It sits on a hill overlooking the city. Also, It’s magnificent and a breath-taker.
  • Visit St. Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava. It is situated on the edge of the Old Town.
  • Tour the Primatial Palace.
  • Visit St. Elizabeth’s Church- The Blue Little Church. By the way, this church is considered one of the most beautiful pieces of Art Nouveau architecture in the whole world.
  • Other places: Grassalkovich Palace, Devin Castle, Old Town Hall, The Slovak National Theatre, St. Michael Street and St. Michael Gate etc.

Best time to visit: End of March to May, September, and October are good time to explore this beautiful country.

3. Lose yourselves in Shanghai

This city is one of the fastest growing metropolitans in the world. You can literally feel the pulsating development of the country. Along with the modernization, its multi-cultural flair imparts a different kind of a glamour which makes it very attractive and a hot-spot for tourists.

While you’re here, you can: 

  • Visit the Oriental Pearl Tower for a complete city view.
  • The Bund for a beautiful waterside walkway.
  • Yu Garden.
  • Shanghai Disney Resort.
  • Other places: Nanjing Road, People’s Square, Shanghai Museum, Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium etc.

Best time to visit: October to November.

4.  Prance around in Prague

When we say prance, we literally mean prance! The quaint cobbled streets and alleys will make you want to run around like a kid! Beautiful Prague is considered to be the cultural capital of Bohemia. Famous for the culture, serenity, and just sheer, unadulterated beauty, you’ll fall in love with the huge number of castles, museums, 18th-century taverns, and what not!

While you’re here, you can: 

  • Visit Charle’s Bridge, a beautiful 14th-century structure.
  • Prague Castle, dating back to the 9th-century.
  • St. Vitus Cathedral, a shrine and home of national treasures.
  • Old Town Square.
  • Other places: Karlštejn, Petřín Lookout Tower, Wenceslas Square, Vyšehrad, Dancing House etc.

Best time to visit: March – July.

5.  Boogie in Budapest

Well, not in a disco-boogie way, anyway! Budapest is the place you must go if history speaks to you. Filled with a rich heritage from a time far back, Budapest is a beautifully decorated and an amazingly constructed city- the museums, statues, castles, historical monuments being a thing of dreams.

While you’re here, you can: 

  • Buda Castle, home of Hungarian art.
  • Fisherman’s Bastion, a turreted fortress from where you can get the city’s views.
  • Hungarian Parliament Building, a Gothic revival-style Government building.
  • Hősök tere, a beautiful square with even more beautiful statues.
  • Other places: Széchenyi thermal bath, Matthias Church, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Great Market Hall, Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden etc.

Best time to visit: March – May & September – November.

6. Breathe-in Berlin

Breathe-in in the sense: Breathe in the sights and flavours of the summer roof terraces, beach bars, Christmas markets and what not! There’s always something or the other going on every day of the year and every moment of the day (or night!), here in Berlin. You surely won’t be disappointed!

While you’re here, you can:

  • Brandenburg Gate, a grand classic archway.
  • Reichstag, Neo-Rennaisance Parliament building.
  • Fernsehturm, a tower topped with a restaurant at 207m.
  • Berlin Wall.
  • Other places: Alexanderplatz, Pergamon Museum, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Zoological Garden, Potsdamer Platz, Berlin Cathedral etc.

Best time to visit: May to September.
